Note from Joanny: In my last 3 articles I described very briefly what it looks and feels like to be healthy from several aspects. In my last article I approached it from Chinese Medical physiology. There is no separation between body, mind, and spirit. When there is, you get dis-ease.
Your natural state is to be balanced, to feel calm and quiet, and to look young. But obviously this does not come by neglecting any part of your health. If you neglect your physical health, you’ll have issues. If you ignore your emotional and spiritual health, they’ll affect your physical health. It’s all tied together. In Chinese medicine, children are born imbalanced, but it’s NOT a pathological state! Today’s lesson is about how you fall out of balance and what it looks like.

Feature Article:This is what unhealthy feels like. Learn what it really means.
Remember, I often refer to the energetic Organ, not the structural organ. The following is a very brief description of disharmony and the reasons why.
Liver/gallbladder imbalances are due to prolonged anger, frustration, and resentment. Poor diet and too many pharmaceutical drugs also affect the Liver, your major filtering organ. You may feel pain in your rib cage, especially under the breast. If it occurs on the left hand side, this is often mistakened for a heart attack. You may sigh often. Depression is common. You may feel a perceptible lump in your throat that you can’t cough up. Blood pressure may be high. Violent behaviour is possible. You often wake up anywhere between 1 and 3 A.M. You’re impatient, maybe judgmental. If the Gall Bladder is affected, you may be very indecisive or change your mind often.
The Kidneys are affected by fear and worry. Physical symptoms include problems in the reproductive organs such as prostate or ovarian issues, pain in the lower back and the lower limbs, including the hips, knees, ankles, and feet. You may also suffer from urinary problems. Your sleep is often disturbed because you get up to go to the bathroom. You may feel unsure of yourself due to lack of self-esteem and confidence. You worry about making enough money to support yourself and anyone else. You fear losing your job.
The Spleen/Stomach are affected by too much mental work when there is also little rest and relaxation and/or poor diet. Your mind may be foggy; your creativity is lacking. You can’t think clearly. You may be depressed. You’ll have digestive problems and lots of phlegm and mucous in your body. You are easily fatigued and lethargic. You have a poor appetite and yet still put on weight. You have a pale sallow complexion. You just feel very run down. You may suffer from poor sleep because you can’t quiet your mind.
Prolonged feelings of grief and sadness, worry, and guilt affect the Lungs and Intestines. You’re unable to let go of things, events, and people that no longer serve you. Chronic constipation is a major indication of an inability to let go. The same with breast or lung cancer. You have chronic respiratory problems, such as asthma and bronchitis and constant colds and flus. You feel tired often. And yet your sleep is disturbed. Perhaps you are waking between 3 and 5 A.M. You may have skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis.
And finally, the Heart/Small Intestine systems. The Heart feels all of the emotions and houses the Mind (part I). Since none of the Organ Systems act in a vacuum, disharmony in other Organs affect the Heart and also each other. Depression is possible, sometimes with a manic component (bi-polar). Violent behaviour is possible. Sleep is poor. The physical symptoms include heart disease, breast cancer, and poor circulation.
Being in disharmony has some very serious implications. But even at the low end of dis-ease, it gets in the way of living a full life. Next time, I’ll explain how children behave according to ancient Chinese medicine.

About Dr. Joanny
I am a Doctor of Chinese Medicine, an Empowerment Coach, and an Educator and Expert on the subjects of ADHD, Autism, Anger, and Insomnia.
I identify the heart of the matter, the true root cause. There isn’t any guesswork in Chinese medicine. A diagnosis in Chinese medicine is the cause. From there, you get a treatment and action plan. As you undergo that, you are on your way to healing.
By helping you to remove root causes, you will transform your life. Or do you merely want to manage symptoms?
The results of the treatments are the same regardless of gender, age, or race. What may differ is timing. Children have fewer issues and heal quickly. Adults are often more complex, but in the end, healing will still occur in a timely manner. It will be weeks or months, not years or never.
The result of working with me is more living, more life, and more joy. In record time.
Tuesdays, Thursdays: 10 A.M. to 7 P.M.
Wednesdays, Fridays: 10 A.M. to 3 P.M.
Saturdays and Sundays closed.
I will NEVER sell, lend, or share your information with any other organization. Please enjoy the great information you are about to receive. CANSPAM Compliant.
